Group Guidelines

Group Purpose:
The purpose of this Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group, brought to you by DBT With Friends (DBTWF), is to foster personal growth, emotional regulation, and build supportive peer connections. Together, DBTWF will work towards achieving a balanced and harmonious life both at home and in our professional endeavors.

Group Commitments:
As a valued member of DBTWF, I commit to the following:

  1. Active Participation: I will actively engage in group discussions, exercises, and activities to maximize my personal growth and contribute to the collective learning experience.

  2. Confidentiality: I will maintain strict confidentiality regarding all personal information shared by group members during sessions.

  3. Respectful Communication: I will communicate respectfully, being mindful of others' feelings and perspectives.

  4. Attendance & Punctuality: I will make every effort to attend all scheduled group sessions and arrive on time. If I miss three sessions in a row and the group is at capacity, I'll be moved to the waitlist. Exceptions may be made by leadership for extreme circumstances.

  5. Openness to Feedback: I will be open to receiving constructive feedback and will provide feedback in a supportive manner.

  6. Homework Completion and Daily Diary Cards: I will diligently complete assigned homework, including daily diary cards, to enhance my learning and progress.

Risks of Dating Within the Group:
While DBTWF encourages forming connections within our community, it's essential to acknowledge the potential risks of dating within the group. Such risks may include:

  • Impaired objectivity in providing feedback or support to each other.

  • Potential conflicts and emotional entanglements that may arise if the relationship encounters challenges.

  • Disruption of group dynamics, affecting the therapeutic environment for all members.

No Drugs and Alcohol During Groups Policy:
I understand and agree to refrain from consuming drugs and alcohol during group sessions. If I am struggling to stay sober, I may still join the group, but I will exercise awareness that this may be a trigger for other members. I am committed to maintaining a safe and supportive space for all participants.

Optional Donation:
I have the option to contribute $5 per session if I can afford it. This voluntary donation helps cover administrative fees and supports the continuity of DBTWF community.

Acknowledgment:
I acknowledge that my participation in this DBT group is voluntary, and I am under no obligation to share anything that makes me uncomfortable. I understand that DBT With Friends is not a substitute for professional therapy or medical treatment..
